It is characteristic of pilgrims to hasten to their homeland: it is equally characteristic of them to experience precariousness along the way, security in their homeland. Let us therefore hasten to our homeland, we who are wayfarers. Wayfarers ardently desire the end of the way, so that we too, who are wayfarers and pilgrims, reflect on the goal of the journey, that is, of our life: the goal of our way is in fact the homeland..Let us not therefore love the way more than the fatherland so as not to lose the eternal fatherland. Let us therefore keep this conviction firmly within us so that we may live on the way as wayfarers, as pilgrims, as guests of the world.
Those who have wisdom should make the journey quickly, cautiously but quickly, like pilgrims on their way to their true homeland, sure of the past, but eager for the journey that remains to be made.
We do not seek in the way what will be the reality of the homeland: the journey is characterized by fatigue and laborious commitment, while it is only the homeland that offers rest and security.  Therefore we must take care not to feel safe on the way so as to risk not reaching our true homeland.
